In "On a simultaneous generalization of $\beta$-normality and almost normality, Filomat 31 (2) (2017) 425-430",

the authors prove that almost

$\beta$-normality is preserved by continuous, open, closed surjections.

We present examples to show that neither ``open'' nor ``closed'' can

be omitted.
