In memoriam Professor Dr. Vladimir Ranđelović (1965-2023)

Abstract


Vladimir Ranđelović was born on February 18, 1965, in Toplički Kočan, near Niš. From 1989 to 2000, Professor Vladimir Ranđelović worked at the Faculty of Technology in Leskovac and was involved in teaching at the Higher Agricultural-Food School in Prokuplje. Soon after, he also worked at the Faculty of Occupational Safety in Niš. With the establishment of the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics in Niš in 2000, he started working at the Department of Biology and Ecology. Throughout his academic career, he was responsible for a wide range of botanical subjects, with notable emphasis on Systematics and Phylogeny of Higher Plants, Plant Ecology with Phytogeography, and other subjects. The result of Professor Vladimir Ranđelović’s extensive scientific research work includes numerous scientific and professional publications. Professor Vladimir Ranđelović’s research provides significant contributions to the flora of the Republic of Serbia, with a larger number of plant species being reported for the first time in his works (Campanula calycialata V. Randjel. & Zlatković, Crocus jablanicensis Randjel. & V. Randjel., Crocus danubiensis Kernd., Pasche, Randjel. & V. Randjel., and Crocus novicii V. Randjel. & Miljković). Professor Vladimir Ranđelović will always be associated with the Symposium on the Flora of Southeastern Serbia and neighboring regions as a president of |Scientific and Organization board. Unfortunately, at the peak of his life Professor Vladimir Ranđelović passed away on March 18, 2023, at the age of 57.
