EXTENDED CONTRACTION MAPPINGS

Abstract


We extend the Banach contraction principle and define a condition that applies to contraction mappings as well as nonexpansive mappings. The fixedpoint sets and domains of the mappings satisfying our theorems display interesting algebraic, geometric and dynamical features. Various examples substantiate our results.
