Regression Analysis and Statistical Examination of Knoop Hardness on Abrasion Resistance in Lyca Beige Marbles
Abstract
Marbles are secondary decomposition products formed by metamorphism of limestone in appropriate temperature and pressure environment. Eective classification of marble quarries in terms of quality and use means sustainable protection. The quality and interpretation of these properties of marble
depends on an understanding of the physico-mechanical properties of the samples taken from the site. Obtained results of physico-mechanical properties of the marbles were statistically analyzed with the help of Stata 14 and SPSS 21 software and then interpreted. The first test was Shapiro Wilk analysis with Stata 14 program. The other test was Kolmogorov-Simirnov test with SPSS 21 software. With these two tests, it was found that the physico-mechanical properties of the marble samples were mostly normal. Correlation
coecient determination analysis was performed on the data and it was determined that the data would be distributed normally and calculated according to Pearson correlation. In general, it was observed that there was an inverse relationship between Abrasion Value and Knoop Hardness Determination. Due to
the strong correlation between Abrasion Value and Knoop Hardness Determination, we investigated a relationship that we think is nonlinear or linear. As a result, the results of nonlinear relationship were significant. “Hierarchial cluster” technique found similar characteristics with some 56 sample of the 8
dierent locations taking from Elmali region. In the dendrogram chart the sample are divided into three groups of close similarities. The estimated value of the parameters is in the 95 % confidence interval. The equation obtained by regression analysis was used for the determination of resistance to abrasion.
